The Sunfish is the most popular recreational sailboat in history. It is so enjoyed due to its classic design, unmatched stability and sailing ease. Owners appreciate the lightweight hull that two people can easily load on the top of a car. The ultra durable construction ensures years of maintenance free enjoyment. Makes sailing trips a breeze. Just load it on the car and go for it.

    Sunfish, 2006
This is an almost new 2006 Sunfish Race model. It's only been sailed a dozen times.
Kept in garage until May 2010. After that covered as shown.
Extras include mainsheet jam cleat and Ritchie X-Port compass mounted by mast where it is not affected by centerboard.
Sportsman trailer includes a pvc pipe for the spars, which also come with a spar bag.
The boat comes with the official North racing sail with window. The spars are rigged with the quick release gooseneck, outhaul and Cunningham.
A second identical race sail made by Intensity Sails but not official is available for $100; it has been used for 6 hours. A new North "class legal" sail is $436, so having a practice sail is a good option and many local clubs will let you race with this if you want.
A new race sunfish is $4365 and the covers, compass and cleat are $500. With the trailer this is a great way to get a great boat.

For most One-Design Class eligible boats, the number of boats built and the number of boats registered in the racing class are closely related. This makes the boat and the racing Class practically one in the same. The Sunfish is an anomaly to this more familiar symbiotic relationship.

The Sunfish Class Association reported in 2001, Sunfish production had exceeded 300,000 boats.[15] The registrar for One Design sailing in the United States, US Sailing, reported in a 2004 survey, Sunfish Class membership numbered 1,573. This does not mean Sunfish isn’t a preferred race boat. On the contrary, at 1,573 Class members, Sunfish ranks in the upper percentile of boats involved with organized racing in the U.S.[16] It does, however, demonstrate the boat’s above average versatility to suit a broader range of sailing applications.
